What if there was a magical kingdom that only we knew about?
~ Leslie Burke
What a lovely premise to found a beautiful friendship upon..
One that accords one the right to a self-Identity one is proud of,
of Kingdoms borne of sheer Magic, Wonder and the irresistibly boundless human Imagination,
One that allows one to laugh from our hearts, weep on the shoulders of kindred souls,
and learn to trust others ~ and ourselves ~ anew,
One that fortifies us with Courage to heal
even the deepest wounds of hurt and pain even a child-heart wouldn’t cease to forget..
‘Keep your Mind Wide Open’ performed by AnnaSophia Robb
(who plays the memorably priceless character, Leslie ~ Friend of Jesse)
With deepest Thanks to dear chum, SW for this privilege (yes SW, *minerva owes you loads of Thanks & Hugz of love, for this ineffably lovely gem!)..

Just watched Bridge to Terabithia (dir. Gabor Csupo: 2007).
Adapted from Katherine Paterson’s classic & much-beloved novel of the same name, this movie has clearly won itself the right to have convinced yours truly, that sometimes the movie version can be as magnificently majestic as the first, ineffable Wonder proffered by its promising novel-twin.
Kudos to the entire cast and crew, especially Josh Hutcherson (Jesse) and AnnaSophia Robb (Leslie ~ mine fave!
) who’ve effectively breathed life, ever so delicately, into the memorable lead characters!
As much as I’ve loved the book, the movie’s a rare gem ~ matching up to every book-lover’s cherished (and secret) fount of vivid imagination and literary sensitivities.
So, are you ready to go watch the movie?
Take care all & Wishes,

Wow! I watched this movie on a transcontinental flight a few weeks ago. But I watched it without sound – I followed the entire movie and I didn’t miss any idea or emotion in the movie. had no trouble following the story. The mark of a great movie is exactly that! If you can experience the whole entire movie without sound, then the movie was well made. I watched this movie again after I was on the ground
– this time with sound! And let me tell you this – the experience gets even better…

Heya *DM,
Thanks for this pleasant surprise of a note!
Incidentally, that’s exactly what an old Prof. of mine suggested a few years ago during one of my fave (Literary Narratives) modules, when we were studying cinematic narratives..
Watching any movie sans sound, would also be a great experiment in appreciating the power of language/sound in the movie.
And yep, it is one great movie.. Also, happens to be based on a great literary classic, too.
Take care & Wishes,
